BLIS Distance Education Overview
BLIS (Bachelor of Library and Information Sciences) is a One year program, with an extension of 3 years. In this program, DU SOL makes students understand the purpose and functions of automated Libraries & Information Centers in changing dynamics of current Society. BLIS has a contemporary Curriculum which is designed in a way that it familiarizes students with methodology & fundamentals of planning, designing and developing Library Centers and their services at local, regional, national and global level.
DU SOL covers a wide range of topics which includes library management, information organization and many others. Its learning methodology includes blended learning, Counselling sessions, Video lectures, and ICT powered learning sessions. DU SOL also gives library facilities with basic reading materials related to various related topics.
The Distance BLIS program offers a diverse and enriching path for students who are passionate about Knowledge, Information, organisation and community services. In present day, librarians are getting more recognition than ever, opening various career opportunities for them. These include Library & Information Science Teacher, Information Specialist, Data Librarian, Information Technologist, Content & Knowledge Manager, and Data Manager.
BLIS Distance Course Duration & Eligibility
Distance Bachelor of Library Information & Science (BLIS) offered by DU, School of Open Learning, is a 1 year degree program, which consists of two semesters. This one year program can be extended up to 3 years, providing students with flexibility and comfort to pursue this degree at their own pace. This helps students in balancing their study as well as other commitments too.
Fulfilling Eligibility Criteria is mandatory for each and every student. Every interested student requires to clear their 12th grade from a recognized educational board, with a minimum of 40% marks in exams if they want to take admission in BA program. But it is best advised to check for eligibility criteria of specific subject.students want to apply for, as minimum passing marks differ depending on chosen specialization. Some courses require 45% minimum passing marks meanwhile some courses require up to 65% minimum passing marks.
Students from reserved categories like Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes get relaxation in minimum passing criteria.

DU SOL BLIS Distance Fees Structure
DU SOL BLIS Distance program has an affordable and cheap fee structure which is generally less in comparison to regular BLIS Program. DU SOL provides fee relaxation to reserved category students, especially to those who come in PwD category and are Orphans.
Apart from programme fee, DU SOL also has an application fee which is mandatory to pay and is not refundable. For General Category fees is Rs. 500 and for students from SC, ST, PwD category, fee is Rs. 300.
